Coffee Shop Blues and Yellow Mohawks

So I am sitting here in a Coffee Shop in Warsaw. It is extremely sad that this is where I have to come just to get a good wireless connection, but I guess that is what I get for living in northern Indiana. Fun times, no?

Friday was crazy hair day at school and I went to school with a yellow mohawk with black tips. The kids were all amazed that I had enough hair to actually do the mohawk, but I did. I also perfomed my first backflip at school in front of the eighth graders. There was a talent show Friday and the drum club did the Limbo song. They had some teachers and students doing the limbo and I ran up at one point and did a backflip over the limbo pole. I am now officially cool, to about 95% of the eighth graders (the other 5% are still mad at me for random infractions). On top of all that I will be getting my head shaved next week because I volunteered it for a fundraising activity we had. It should be an interesting week.

Sometimes, teaching can be even more fun than you would think.

Hobbits and the like

So I just finished reading The Lord of the Rings last night and several things struck me. Primarily, it took somewhere around three months to read the thing because I have so little time anymore. I don't know who thought the teachers day ended at 3:00. It's a lie. A big one.

Anyway. It strongly reminded me of several things. First the Octoberfest night when we dressed as Hobbits and were so ridiculously awesome. More significant was the last chapter. Frodo was leaving to sail across the sea and the other hobbits were going back to the shire. I couldn't help but think that we were a lot like that in Apt 12. We shared a lot and we learned a lot. Thanks, it was awesome.

So, on a less serious topic, anyone want to do a LOTR marathon? I am kinda in the mood right now. Of course, I am a little more picky about the time we do it.

Discus and 13 year olds....yikes!!

We are pathetic bloggers.

In honor of our recent hiatus from blogging, I want to just say that despite our greatest ambitions of glorious blogging, we have again managed to prove our inconsistancy as bloggers. I don't know, however, if this is good or bad. On one hand it proves that we aren't slaves to the screen of death and glazed eyes. On the other hand, where do we go, what do we do that really demands so much of our time and attention? I know for a fact that Ben's life can't be that interesting. I mean really, what does he ever have to do?

Anyway, I have to help at a track meet. Discus. Oh, yeah, I'm cool. Actually, I just hope no uncoordinated, disillusioned 13 year old nails me with that discus. I think it would hurt. I'll fill you in later.

Cheers...
